Neal A. Shear, '78
Parker Center Advisory BoardNeal Shear is a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley, Co-Head of Institutional Sales and Trading, and Global Head of the Fixed Income Division. He is a member of the Firm's Management Committee.
Mr. Shear joined the Firm in 1982 to start the commodities business, became a Vice President in 1984, a Principle in 1986, and a Managing Director in 1988. In previous years, Mr. Shear was a member of the Fixed Income Operating Committee, which manages the Firm's global fixed income and commodities businesses. He also worked on company issues related to derivatives regulations, technology and strategic planning. Most recently, Mr. Shear served as Head of Global Commodities including precious metals, energy, power, and natural gas from 1987-2005. Mr. Shear assumed his role as the Global Head of the Fixed Income Division in April 2005 and was subsequently appointed Co-Head of Institutional Sales and Trading, in August 2005.
Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, Mr. Shear was a trader at Citicorp from 1978-1979 and J. Aron & Company from 1979-1982.
Mr. Shear graduated from the University of Maryland in 1976 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He also attended Cornell University where he earned his Masters of Business Administration in 1978. Mr. Shear is a board member of Temple Emanu-El in New York, the Bond Market Association, and a member of the US-Egypt Business Council.
He resides in Manhattan with his wife, Jacqueline and their two children.
