Harry W. Lange

Harry Lange is a portfolio manager for Fidelity Investments, the largest mutual fund company in the United States, the No. 1 provider of workplace retirement savings plans and a leading online brokerage firm. Mr. Lange manages Fidelity Magellan Fund.

Mr. Lange joined Fidelity in 1987 as a research analyst following the photography, office products and machinery industries. He managed Fidelity Select Automation and Machinery Portfolio (now known as Fidelity Select Industrial Equipment Portfolio) from May 1988 to September 1988. Later that year, Mr. Lange was named director of research for Fidelity Investments Far East, in Tokyo, where he analyzed the banking and automobile industries. Upon returning to the United States, he served as an equity analyst covering technology stocks, and managed Fidelity Select Computers Portfolio from 1992 to 1996, Fidelity Select Electronics Portfolio from 1993 to 1995, and Fidelity Select Technology Portfolio from 1993 to 1996. He managed Fidelity Capital Appreciation Fund from March 1996 and Fidelity Advisor Small Cap Fund from September 1998 until October 2005 when he assumed responsibility for Fidelity Magellan Fund.

Before joining Fidelity, Mr. Lange was a vice president at Wellington Management for two years. Previously, he worked as an associate for Idanta Partners from 1983 to 1984. Mr. Lange began his career as a co-op student working at the Chevrolet Motors Division of General Motors (GM) in 1970. From 1975 to 1981, Mr. Lange was a senior research engineer and engineering manager for GM. While pursuing his MBA at Harvard, he continued to work for GM on fellowship from 1981 to 1983.

Born in 1952, Mr. Lange received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from the General Motors Institute in 1975 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1983. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst charterholder.
