"Behind the Scenes at Starbucks"
A panel discussion on: labor, fair trade coffee and corporate social responsibility.

Panelists:
Rick Boleto is a district manager and Coffee Corporate Social Responsibility Diplomat for Starbucks Coffee Company. He has been with Starbucks for 12 years and currently lives and works in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Chad Gray is a second year M.S./Ph.D. student in Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University. His research focuses on global solidarity campaigns and building international union networks. He worked as an organizer for UNITEHERE, the textile and apparel workers' union, from 2002-2005 and taught English at the Centro de Intercambio y Solidaridad in San Salvador, El Salvador during 2006.

Brenda McKenzie works in Government and Civic Affairs at Starbucks Coffee Company. She supports five regional offices within North America, spanning from New York to Nebraska. With a focus on community stakeholders and local government, Brenda assists local teams to develop, manage, integrate and implement engagement efforts relating to store development and operations. An active contributor in the economic development community for 15 years, Brenda's experience ranges from leading diverse neighborhood planning efforts for the city of Chicago to community-based development. The underlying thread, and passion, is for collaboration. Brenda holds degrees from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science from the College of Commerce, and a Masters from the College of Urban Planning & Public Affairs.

Benjamin Traslaviña, from Lynbrook, New York, is a Junior in the ILR school at Cornell, where his studies are concentrated in Law and Economics. He is the President of Cornell Students Against Sweatshops, as well as an active member of Cornell Organization for Labor Action. He has worked as a labor organizer for CSEA 1000 and currently works as an Assistant Researcher to Kate Bronfenbrenner, on a study of employer tactics in union organizing campaigns. His post-graduation aspirations are military service and continued involvement in the labor movement.

Moderator:
Dr. Mark Milstein is Lecturer of Strategy, Innovation and Sustainable Global Enterprise and Director of the Center for Sustainable Global Enterprise at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. Professor Milstein teaches and conducts research on strategy, decision-making, technology management and innovation. Dr. Milstein is a member of the Management & Organization group at the Johnson School as well as the University-wide Entrepreneurship@Cornell Program. He earned his PhD from the University of North Carolina.
