Sustainable Global Enterprise Immersion

The Johnson School's Immersion program is a unique element of its MBA curriculum. The program allows first year, full time, and Accelerated MBA students to focus on a specific area of study. The Sustainable Global Enterprise (SGE) Immersion is focused on the theory and practice of building competitive business opportunities based on addressing social and environmental issues.

The SGE Immersion provides students with breadth and depth of knowledge related to the broad impact social and environmental issues present to firms across a number of industries. Students then apply this knowledge by working on real sustainable enterprise projects with companies.

SGE Immersion students work on sponsored projects that challenge them to solve real problems currently faced by companies in the marketplace. There are high expectations to provide practical, operational solutions. The projects require competency in all management areas, including economics, finance, accounting, and operations. Projects include: sustainable technology commercialization strategies, BOP market analysis and feasibility studies, and sustainable enterprise strategic venture plans.

Enrollment in the Immersion requires registering for the following courses in Spring term:

Sustainable Global Enterprise Boot Camp
NBA 603 - Sustainable Global Enterprise
NBA 658 - SGE Immersion - Practicum

The SGE Immersion courses are available to any graduate student at Cornell. The "Sustainable Global Enterprise Boot Camp" is a key component of the SGE Immersion held each January starting 10 days prior to the start of the spring semester. The boot camp is an essential part of the Immersion experience and is mandatory. Non-Johnson school students can enroll in the Immersion by sending an email requesting registration in NBA 603 and NBA 658.

All full time MBA students will also register for NCC 508 - Managing Operations and NCC 504 - Managing and Leading in Organizations to complete their core obligations in the MBA program. MBA students choosing the SGE Immersion will have 5 elective credits available for additional coursework.
