Elissa K. Osterland

Student Intern

Elissa K. Osterland is a sophomore in Cornell's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences from San Diego, California. She is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Developmental Sociology and Environmental and Resource Economics. Elissa is Vice President and Co-Founder of IndyKids an organization intended to encourage global consciousness for middle school aged children and recipient of a 2007-2008 Community Service Partnership grant from Cornell University. Elissa serves as Net Impact Program Coordinator for the Sustainable Enterprise Association, an undergraduate student organization which aims to inspire, enable, and support students from all disciplines to explore the theories and applications of sustainable enterprise through discussion groups, business planning, consulting projects, lecturers, internships, and conferences. As a volunteer at Ten Thousand Villages, a non-profit organization which works for over 100 artisan groups in Africa, Asia and Latin America to bring fair trade to American communities, she supports fair trade and sustainable business practice and is particularly interested in base of the pyramid initiatives and microfinance. Elissa plans to continue to pursue her interests through directed projects with Dr. Mark Milstein and will intern this summer in China and India in Microfinance. Elissa is excited about the cutting edge programs and research taking place at the CSGE and is very appreciative to be a part of such an environment.
