SGEI-China will develop a uniquely Chinese model of sustainable enterprise. SGEI-China combines Cornell's deep expertise in sustainable enterprise with Tsinghua SEM's focus on technology and entrepreneurship in China. The initiative began with a joint research project funded by the National Science Foundation of China and the residency of a visiting scholar from Tsinghua at Cornell in 2008.
Objectives for the initiative include:
- Base of the Pyramid (BOP) Learning Lab-China
- An executive council of business leaders to drive the initiative's agenda
- A faculty network
- Curriculum development
- Applied research
- Post-graduate immersion program for Tsinghua graduates
- An executive education program
- Faculty and student exchanges between Tsinghua School of Economics and Management and Cornell.
