Prior to attending Cornell, Pratima worked in public policy for the Ontario Ministry of Finance and the G8 Research Group. In her capacity as Director with the G8 Research Group, Pratima assessed G8 compliance with commitments made at annual G8 Summits, and presented her work at G8 Summits in Japan, Italy, and Canada as an accredited researcher. Pratima also took a position as a Summer Research Intern at the International Centre for Trade and Sustainable Development in Geneva Switzerland in 2011 where she conducted analytical research on the strategic effectiveness of preferential trade agreements in achieving trade liberalization and contributed to 20 articles on World Trade Organization agreements, intellectual property rights, and food policy to support policymaking in affiliate United Nations agencies. At the Johnson School, Pratima is a consultant with BR Consulting and an executive member of the Johnson Board Fellowship. Pratima hopes to pursue a career in the private sector with a focus on driving economic growth through sustainable business. As a student in Johnson’s Sustainable Global Enterprise immersion, Pratima aims to learn more about sustainable operations and investigate how sustainable technology can drive innovation.

Emily Busch worked at Polo Ralph Lauren’s Club Monaco performing generalist Human Resources duties prior to coming to Cornell. She spent her first year at Cornell in the Industrial and Labor Relations School, working towards her MILR degree. She spent last summer interning at The Hershey Company, creating a career path for the marketing department and continues to work for Hershey throughout this year. At Cornell University, Emily is the VP of Alumni & Membership for the Human Capital Association and is a consultant for BR Consulting. Emily’s interests lie in how HR and CSR can partner to ensure more sustainable business practices.

Prior to attending Johnson, Ufei worked for seven years in the banking, education and economic development sectors where her passion for sustainability took root. In her roles, she developed her skill set in finance, operations and non-profit management, including grant writing and strategic development. Ufei has had the opportunity to work in a number of projects that involved the successful collaboration of public and private organizations. Most recently, she served on the board of directors of Brooklyn Bridge to Cambodia, a non-profit organization that took at market approach to the water access problem in rural Cambodia. Through the SGE immersion, Ufei hopes to explore at a deeper and more comprehensive level the role of businesses in economic development and environmental stewardship.

Debbie Chang is a second year Fellow at the Cornell Institute for Public Affairs, concentrating in Environmental Policy. Debbie has had a long and varied career, including six years as an entertainment production manager with luxury cruise line Crystal Cruises. She has also WWOOFed, off-the-grid, on a banana farm in tropical Queensland, Australia and volunteered with Friends of Nature in Beijing, China. She plans to pursue a career in the non-profit sector on climate change and energy issues, by dealing with the policies of the two countries with the highest emissions – United States and China. At Cornell, Debbie participated in an international capstone project for Greenhouse Gases Management Institute, researching worldwide education and training on GHG measurement, reporting and verification. She also served as the 2011 Secretary for the Cornell Public Affairs Society. Debbie came to the SGE Immersion for its practical business perspective and tangible experience, and looks forward to learning more about how companies can lead their industry in sustainable business practices.

Robert Chase has worked for four years in nonprofit and government operations and project management. He performed project management roles with AmeriCorps NCCC within New Orleans, Omaha, Lake Charles and Denver. He then became Operations Manager for the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network, helping to run a nonprofit state association startup. Most recently he interned at the US EPA with their electronics team and aspires to transition to the for-profit sector where he hopes to develop more sustainable business operations, product development, supply chains and company policies.

Yanfei Chen has a keen interest in the design and implementation of sustainable development business models and has been actively involved in relevant internships and volunteer work. In the past half a year, Yanfei has helped Imagine Life Nutrition LLC, a nutritional supplement start-up in Texas, with its business partnership strategy and outsourcing strategy. Last year, she worked on a fundraising consulting project for a self-sustained civil initiative in Bosnia. With the SGE Immersion, she hopes to gain the insight on achieving social sustainability through cooperation efforts and bring to the table her policy perspective and global vision.

Prior to joining Johnson, Clint spent six years as a litigation consultant in a valuation and finance capacity in Chicago. Clint’s sustainability interests lie primarily in the field of sustainable agriculture where he aims to bring healthier and more responsibly produced food choices into mainstream society. At Johnson, Clint is a consultant with BR Consulting and is currently working with a client on a marketing strategy for new apple cultivars. Clint serves as the Vice President of Marketing and Operations for the Consulting Club and is an active member in the SGE Club’s Agriculture and Sustainability Consulting Affinity Groups.

B.A. in Sociology and Government and Legal Studies, 2006 – Bowdoin College

Ranwei is interested in sustainable agribusiness as well as getting expanding local food economies. Prior to attending school, she worked for five years in the International Recruiting Department of The Boston Consulting Group. Ranwei left that position in early 2011 to work for Nalo Farms in Hawaii, where she learned the ins and outs of their operations. The position proved to be a great opportunity because not only was she able to contribute to the success and functioning of the farm, but was also able to learn more about how they fit into the larger ecosystem and economy. While working with Nalo Farms, Ranwei helped them to reevaluate their use of retail space at markets, explore new cultivation techniques for some of their crops, and conduct outreach to increase community awareness of their brand. She hopes to expand her business experience to become an expert in the food industry and eventually build a more sustainable and local model.

Bret worked for six years in media and government in New York City before pursuing an MBA in social entrepreneurship. As a reporter and editor for the Bronx Times, he covered numerous social and environmental issues, from poverty to pollution to childhood obesity, and documented inspiring work to address these issues. As deputy chief of staff to New York City Council Member James Vacca, he advanced legislation in support of small businesses and outer-borough communities while founding a volunteer service initiative that attracted more than 500 members. At Johnson, Bret serves as the Operations Facilitator and Co President of the Sustainable Global Enterprise Club, an Associate for BR Venture Fund, and a Fellow for BR MicroCapital. Bret is passionate about making U.S. cities more sustainable and building more durable local economies. An avid backyard gardener, he is especially interested in urban agriculture and fresh, local food.

Duncan comes to Johnson from the renewable energy industry, where he worked selling and designing solar electric, solar thermal, and small wind power systems. In his role as Director of Sales for the Renewable Energy Division of an HVAC company, he helped his customers to reduce the power that they use and produce the power they need. Before renewables, Duncan worked as a Project Analyst for the consulting firm Charles River Associates performing economic analysis of mergers and market analysis for antitrust litigation. Duncan is Board Member of Ithaca Green Building Alliance and a lecturer of renewable energy at Tompkins Cortland Community College. Following graduation, Duncan plans to return to the energy field.

Konstantin Damm has worked for four years in the custom IT system implementation business for Deloitte Consulting. There he most recently led the installation of a complex $2M form printing application for a government client. His experience there, combined with a desire to work in the electricity market, led him to business school. Konstantin spent the first semester actively researching renewable energy generation technologies culminating in a presentation on Wind Energy’s potential. On the supply-side his interests lie in bringing renewable energy to market for utilities, while on the demand-side he believes energy efficiency and demand response solutions have a bright potential for electricity markets. With the SGE Immersion, he hopes to gain insight on the business and policy challenges that renewable energy faces today. Konstantin gives back to the Johnson school by being an officer with the Consulting Club and being a teaching assistant for the core Marketing course in the fall of 2012.

Prior to Johnson, Brandon spent six years working in Washington D.C. for DDC Advocacy, which supports advocacy campaigns and programs. While at DDC, Brandon spent two years as a project manager directing technical implementation projects. He served two years managing DDC’s web development team, and then started the first ever technical consulting team within the business. Brandon worked with both public and private sector clients across a wide range of industries and organizations. With the SGE immersion Brandon plans to focus opportunities where technology can be used to improve our daily lives within the U.S. and globally.

Robert has spent the last four years living in Nicaragua where he founded and managed a boutique hostel and restaurant in the town of Matagalpa. Prior to this venture, Robert served in the Peace Corps where he taught entrepreneurship classes to high school students and worked with a microfinance institution. Based on his experiences in the developing world and in the hospitality industry, Robert’s passions lie at the intersection of conservation, tourism, and entrepreneurship. He is the lead of the sustainable hospitality initiative for the SGE club and runs Cornell’s start-up incubator, the Elab, as an Elab fellow.

Glenn has worked for four years in various financial positions. For three years, he worked as a controller, managing the budget for a $25 million store. Most recently, he worked as an anti-money laundering analyst within the compliance department of the Bank of Montreal Financial Group. At Cornell, Glenn serves as the Local Consulting Chair of the Cornell Graduate Consulting Club and the Vice-President of the Jade Moore Forum on American Politics. After completing his MPA degree, Glenn hopes to work in the financial industry.

Glenn spent the summer as a research associate at Hanover Research Consulting, based in Washington, D.C. His role was to analyze strategic briefings for profit and non-profit clients, including market research and statistical analysis.

Lucy Gent Foma spent 2010-11 in Senegal conducting a Fulbright Research Fellowship on Dance and a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship in Environmental Studies. Preceding her 10-month stay in Senegal, she had been to Cameroon working as a microfinance fellow for Kiva.org and as a project manager educating school children about climate change. Lucy’s combined interests in cultural preservation, community development and environmental sustainability has been seeded throughout her experience in the US and abroad. In her hometown of Santa Fe, NM, Lucy worked with Earth Care, which brings sustainability education into public school classrooms. The SGE Immersion will enable Lucy to incorporate a better understanding of business and policy into the advancement of sustainability efforts around the world.

Nora Hansanugrum has worked for 6 years in the advertising/marketing industry, with over 4 years of experience working on digital and new media projects. Working as a senior project manager, senior account manager, and a strategist, her experience spans a diverse range of industries from automotive, to technology, consumer products, consumer electronics, media and entertainment, and financial services. Nora also has experience in small business operations, and has been an active volunteer working with a variety of nonprofit organizations throughout Los Angeles. She has also served as a pro-bono consultant for the Taproot Foundation. Nora recently completed a degree in Culinary Arts and is interested in marrying her passions for food with her interests in social enterprise development, sustainable business strategies, and international development. She is hoping to gain insight into the wide realm of sustainability and establish a foundation of practical experience in the sustainability field through the SGE Immersion. Nora is also a Roy H. Park Leadership Fellow at the Johnson School.

Jamie spent the past five years sleeping on the ground working for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). As an instructor for NOLS Professional Training, Jamie has taught mountaineering and climbing, designed leadership progressions, and provided individualized coaching for clients including: Kellogg, Wharton, and the United States Naval Academy. As an independent leadership consultant, he facilitated workshops for clients including: The Sustainable Endowments Institute, The National Indian Youth Leadership Program, and Purpose (Purpose.com). Jamie is a Roy H. Park Leadership Fellow, the Executive Director of the Johnson Board Fellowship, and a Fellow for BR MicroCapital. Through the SGE immersion, he seeks to continue asking questions others are afraid to ask, or don’t think to ask.

Vasundhra Kashyap received her PhD in Pharmacology from Weill Medical School of Cornell University in May 2011. Her research work was focused on oncology and stem cell based therapies. Vashundhra was the recipient of a $200,000 Breast and Prostate Cancer Fellowship Awards by the U.S. Department of Defense. Recently, Vasundhra served as a Consultant Intern for Cognex Corporation where she performed market analyses of automation industry across various industry verticals such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, beverages, and electronics and identified market expansion opportunities for Cognex. She was involved with Asha for Education (NYC chapter), a non-profit that provides education to under privileged children in India. She helped organize fundraising events and engaged as a custodian for a project that funds education of street children in New Delhi. Her interests encompass global health issues and social businesses as solutions to poverty alleviation.

Carl comes to the Johnson School after worked in Hanwha Chemical Corporation for five years, managing sales accounts and logistics. At HCC, he spearheaded the go-to-the-market strategy into Canadian market and established a new business model with world-class mining companies. While he was working in chemical industry, he realized that companies have to not only make profits but also maintain business sustainably to do their business continuously. His next step after MBA is to implant sustainability in renewable energy businesses where business opportunities are flourishing. To convert the conceptual notion of sustainability into practical and tangible values as foam of business, he believes that SGE Immersion at Johnson will be greatly helpful in establishing an innovative business model in a renewable energy sector.

Stephanie Kwok is the recipient of the Beatrice R. Kanders memorial Merit-based Scholarship. She comes to Johnson with a background in technology and several years of consulting experience. Her diverse background includes experience in managing global system implementation projects across Banking, HR, and Government sectors in global regions such as the U.S., South America, and Asia-Pacific. During her first semester at Johnson, she helped advise an eco-tourism client in Latin America on impact investment financial and measurement models for an independent study consulting project. She has a passion for sustainability ventures and plans to pursue a career following business school where she can leverage her interests in business and sustainability initiatives.

Jennifer Le has worked for more than four years in KPMG’s Advisory Services, where she developed strong risk management skills in the technology industry. She has had extensive experience with project and client management leading international reviews of client financial and operational processes to improve efficiency and reduce risk. Jennifer is a Roy H. Park Leadership Fellow at the Johnson School and serves as the Consulting Club President. After receiving her MBA, Jennifer hopes to help clients assess their sustainability programs, quantify their footprint, and recommend operational improvements around supply chain efficiency, energy usage, and waste prevention. With the SGE Immersion, Jennifer hopes to gain insight on current environmental policy and innovative strategies for corporate sustainability. This program will take her one step closer to improving environmental conservation and economic development for businesses worldwide.

Veronica Lescay’s professional background is in the advertising industry, where she worked in advertising sales for TripAdvisor and in media planning for MEC Global. For four years, she had been a Team Leader at the Henry Street Workforce Development Center, ultimately securing employment for over 150 people in New York City. This winter, Veronica worked on a consulting project for Aavishkaar/ Servals Automation (a micro-venture capital fund and its portfolio company) in Mumbai, where she completed field research for the launch of TLUD gasifier stoves and developed a marketing plan targeting base of the pyramid consumers in India. Veronica’s interests lie in international economic development and poverty alleviation in developing countries. Veronica is a Consortium Fellow at the Johnson School and President of the Social Enterprise and Microfinance Club. With the SGE Immersion, she hopes to gain insight on how business can be used as a key change agent in the transformation to an economically and environmentally sustainable world.

Christopher is from Trinidad and Tobago and considers biggest challenge facing his home country today to be sustaining the drive toward becoming a developed nation while battling the escalating threat of global warming and prospective resource depletion. Prior to coming to Cornell, he served as a Carbon Reduction Strategy Task Force Secretariat Member for the Ministry of Energy and Energy Affairs of Trinidad and Tobago where he worked diligently on renewable energy and carbon reduction strategy policies, projects and initiatives designed to improve the sustainability of the country’s energy resources and protect the environment. Currently Christopher is pursuing a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering with a specialization in Energy Economics and Engineering.

Christopher is hopeful that the Sustainable Global Enterprise Immersion will allow him to strengthen his business skills and gain a comprehensive understanding of the economic, social and environmental issues integral to making an impact on the globe’s emerging and developing markets.

Katherine Olaksen has worked for four years at EnerNOC, a clean-tech energy management company based in Boston, MA. As a Six Sigma Black Belt, Katherine led cross-functional projects to ensure products and services consistently exceeded customer expectations, aligned operational capability with business strategy, and optimized business processes to ensure that they are robust and scalable. Katherine enrolled in the SGE immersion to better understand the political, social, and economic forces that influence the clean-tech industry.

Mitch grew up in Lincoln, Nebraska and attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. During his time at the University he developed an interest in public policy and politics. After completing his degree, he worked for the City of Lincoln Mayor’s Office on implementing the first sustainability program in the city. He helped administer a $2.5 million federal block grant for energy efficiency, worked with the city Planning Department on the comprehensive plan, and worked with many community groups on improving overall sustainability in Lincoln. In 2010, Mitch ran for public office in Lincoln as a board member of the Lower Platte South Natural Resources District. Mitch also spent six months in Ghana studying at the University of Ghana and working with a local Ghanaian on a sea turtle conservation program.

Lakshmi worked for over five years as a Technology Consultant for Infosys Technologies in Bangalore, India. There she managed a team responsible for design and implementation of various supply chain related technologies for a leading North American CPG Client. Lakshmi was awarded Infosys’ ‘Most Valuable Player’ award thrice for exceptional performances. She is also passionate about enabling educational opportunities for rural India and has worked with Infosys CSR on several initiatives for the same. She founded the Back to School Initiative, which resulted in 20 children of the slums of Bangalore returning to school, and successfully organized the Notebook Drive at Infosys to generate funds to sponsor school kits for 20,000 students in rural India. With the SGE immersion, she is hoping to understand the integration of sustainability in business decisions.

Tathiana Reis has worked for six years in consulting and financial services in Brazil and Latin America. Most recently, Tathiana worked as an Equity Research Associate Analyst for Citigroup where she analyzed 15 companies in the Utilities Sector in Latin America and performed qualitative and quantitative assessment of companies to support investment decisions of local and international investors with asets under management ranging from $50 million to $4 billion. Since college, she has been involved with many NGOs acting in education in her free time. Her interests in social issues and opportunities for new business (e.g., targeting and creating BoP markets) attracted her to the SGE Immersion. She expects to learn more about overarching challenges regarding poverty and inequality, being able to act upon them and improve the social fabric in Latin America.

Prior to Johnson, Bhavin spent four years at Lockheed Martin where he completed their Engineering Leadership Development Program (ELDP). In his last two years, he helped the U.S. Navy develop their next generation passive missile defense system. At Johnson, he is a member of the BR Venture Fund and Operations Director of the Johnson Board Fellowship. With the SGE Immersion, he hopes to gain exposure to social entrepreneurship and the challenges of international development.

Sarah Sachse is a first-year MBA candidate at the Johnson School at Cornell University. While at Johnson, Sarah serves as a consultant for both BR Consulting and Main Street Partners. A big believer in sustainability, Sarah has led a community outreach program in New York City and spent time in Buenos Aires, Argentina talking to local government officials, co-ops, and micro finance organizations and discussing current ways of tackling social issues. Prior to Business School, Sarah was a credit rating analyst at Standard & Poor’s and holds a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University.

After completing a degree in English literature at Dartmouth College, Jessica pursued her interest in agriculture and food production through jobs on farms throughout New England. Most recently, Jessica managed regional marketing efforts and operations for Farnum Hill Ciders in Lebanon, New Hampshire. Jessica is focusing her studies at Johnson on Sustainable Global Enterprise (SGE), and serves as the Finance Facilitator and Career Coordinator for the SGE student club.

Manik began his career as an IT consultant at Accenture in Bangalore, India working on creating business-intelligence solution for a variety of clients. Two years later, he moved to Genpact Ltd as an Assistant Manager in their Life-Sciences Center of Excellence. He spent three years managing a team providing cutting-edge marketing analytics to GlaxoSmithKline US, helping them with new product launches, competitor analysis and sales-force optimization. He also worked within the business-development team at Genpact, creating proposals and business pitches for new global clients within the healthcare sector. With the SGE immersion, Manik seeks to combine his passion for technology and ecological/economic issues with a deep understanding of sustainable practices that organizations need to internalize and adopt to tackle some of the most challenging global issues at hand.

Chris’s primary field of concentration is Energy and Environmental Policy. His professional interests are in energy and environmental finance, strategy, and policy. Prior to his arrival at Cornell, Smith worked as a Political Analyst for the American Association for Justice in Washington, DC where he provided political consulting services including strategy development, campaign management, and candidate training to state affiliate organizations and individual members in connection with 2007 and 2008 elections. He has also been a political organizer in state, federal, and national political campaigns.

Yin has worked for four years as an instructor at a national university at China. Then, she furthered her study in the U.S. and focuses on popular cultural studies. Prior to attending Cornell, she had worked for Congresswoman Louise Slaughter and an American social enterprise, which provide legal and translation services for underserved people in the U.S. For the past two years, she has been involved with management consulting projects in China, U.S. and South Africa. She helped clients develop strategies of business development, market entry and operational optimization. Yin’s interests lie in integrating sustainability into strategic management, including product development, cost saving and risk control. With the SGE Immersion, she hopes to gain insight on the business and policy challenges that a sustainable global enterprise faces.

Uday Tumuluri has worked for six years as an IT consultant with Cognizant Technology Solutions working as a Project Leader and business analyst for a financial services and insurance clients. During this time, Uday led complex engagements providing customer friendly online financial capabilities like money transfer and paperless delivery and creating enterprise wide compliance regulation systems. Uday is a faculty selected Teaching Assistant for Core Marketing at The Johnson School and was the winner of Cornell Battle of the Brands Marketing Competition. With the SGE immersion, Uday hopes to gain insight on business challenges organizations face when leveraging sustainability as a revenue channel.

Willy is a Thomas R. Dyckman Fellow at the Johnson School and is involved in BR Venture Fund and BR MicroCapital. Prior to business school, Willy was a Strategic Planning Manager at Southern California Edison, where he guided the development of California’s nascent wholesale electricity market and helped return over $2 billion in refunds to ratepayers harmed during the California Energy Crisis. Willy is a CFA charterholder and graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from UCLA.
