Dan Schulman has worked for four years focused primarily on community development through his various leadership roles in social and economic justice initiatives. During his time as a Peace Corps volunteer, he helped subsistence farmers in Mali, West Africa with marketing and diversification of their agribusiness products. During his time in Maine, he made significant organizing contributions to the successful campaign for marriage equality and co-led the Maine Alliance for Sustainable Transportation, a coalition of community and business leaders dedicated to regional access and bike-pedestrian issues. In addition, he managed institutional relationships for CIEE, a non-profit provider of international study, work, and travel abroad opportunities. Dan&rsquos interests lie in working with the private sector to address social and economic inequality through sustainable urban development and regional planning, specifically related to transit-oriented development and brownfield remediation. With the SGE Immersion, he hopes to hone his skills to manage large-scale private-public infrastructure projects to address the evolving institutional challenges cities have to ensure its citizens thrive it is his belief that an inclusive holistic approach such as this will leave an indelible lasting impact.
