Internship Funding

To support MBA student interest and desire for non-traditional internship experiences that allow them to pursue their passion we are pleased to offer the following internship funding opportunities.

Nixon International Business Internship Fund

Established through the generosity of John W. and Lea Paxton Nixon, the Nixon International Business Internship Fund is available to Johnson MBA students who are US citizens taking an international summer internship. The Nixon Fund is intended to supplement salaries that are significantly less than the average MBA internship salaries or to provide compensation for unpaid internships. The amount of funding provided to selected students will vary from year to year based on need and demand. Preference is for students with little prior international experience. Funds cannot be used for international students who are returning to their home country for a summer internship. Students must have an internship offer to be considered. The deadline for applications is in mid-April each year.

For more information about this funding, application process or deadline contact mat59@cornell.edu.

Social Impact Internship Fund

The Social Impact Internship Fund provides funding to Johnson MBA students who take a low- or no-compensation summer internship directly involved in social or environmental impact. Students seeking internship opportunities in the following areas are eligible to apply:

  1. For-profit ventures with a dedicated social mission or double bottom line business model (must be explicitly stated in company mission statement)
  2. Internships in the sustainability department or equivalent division of a for-profit corporation
  3. B-Corp certified companies
  4. Nonprofit organizations (501(c)(3)), public sector organizations, nongovernmental organizations (NGO), or government agencies
  5. Social venture capital or impact investment firms
  6. Mission-driven sustainable/social start-ups

This funding is made possible due to the generosity of fellow Johnson students and alumni.

The amount of funding provided to selected students will vary, based on the funding available in any given year. Students must have an internship offer to be considered. The deadlines for applications are April 1 and May 1 each year (based on funding availability).
