Biography

Steven Gal is a career entrepreneur, entrepreneurship professor and advisor.

Steven currently teaches entrepreneurship at the Johnson Graduate School of Management at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University. He began his 30-year teaching career an Associate Professor at USC’s Marshall School, has served as a visiting professor at UCSD’s Rady School, and has taught at universities globally.

As an operating entrepreneur, Steven co-founded multiple venture capital backed technology companies beginning with the advent of the commercial Internet, resulting in over $1.5 billion in exits across several successful sales, one IPO, and one failure.

As an advisor, Steven has been an active supporter of entrepreneurial founders throughout his career, advising founders and family businesses. In addition, he has invested in many of the companies, venture capital funds and other business ventures started by graduates of his entrepreneurship classes, and has started new ventures with former students and fellow faculty members.

Steven holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from University of Southern California School of Law and a Bachelor of Science from the Dyson School at the Cornell SC Johnson College of Business at Cornell University, where he is past chair of the Entrepreneurship at Cornell Advisory Council. He is an attorney and a member of the California Bar.
