Rasmus Gerdeman is a Senior Advisor in the Industrials and Natural Resource Sectors of the Strategic Communications segment of FTI Consulting. In his role, Mr. Gerdeman provides communications, corporate finance and corporate strategy counsel to clients around transformational events impacting their enterprise value and reputation.

His expertise includes strategic investor relations advisory, capital allocation issues, working capital improvement analyses, mergers and acquisitions, activist defense, restructuring activities and management transitions. Mr. Gerdeman brings a unique perspective to transformational situations with deep sector expertise in chemicals, materials, agriculture, and natural resources having worked for more than 12 years as a buy-side analyst for these sectors at leading U.S. investment firms.

Most recently, Mr. Gerdeman helped Detour Gold secure its sale to Kirkland Lake Gold, advising on its transaction circular and investor materials, as well as through the proxy process to ensure the deal obtained favorable recommendations from ISS and Glass Lewis.

Mr. Gerdeman spent more than 5 years at FTI Consulting before leaving in 2018 to serve as Chief Strategy and Investor Relations Officer for Livent Corporation, a lithium materials company that was spun-out of FMC Corporation in 2019. After the spin-out was complete, Mr. Gerdeman rejoined FTI Consulting as a Senior Advisor.

Prior to joining FTI Consulting in 2013, Mr. Gerdeman was twice awarded Institutional Investor Magazine’s prestigious “Best of the Buy-Side” for his unparalleled understanding of the industries that he covered and company fundamentals. Mr. Gerdeman has served as a senior member of the research and investment teams at Neuberger Berman, Northern Trust Global Investors, and Zweig-Dimenna & Associates. He is also a guest lecturer and mentor to Cornell University MBA Cayuga Fund students focusing on basic materials and natural resources.

Mr. Gerdeman holds a Bachelor of Science in finance from North Park University in Chicago, and a Master of Business Administration from S.C Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University and Queen’s School of Business at Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario.
