Family businesses are a growing force in the economies of China and many other emerging markets. With family-owned businesses expected to represent nearly 40 percent of the world’s large enterprises by 2025, according to McKinsey & Co., this fast-growing segment is attracting the attention of both would-be investors and business leaders.
Global Emerging Leaders in Family Enterprise (GEL) is a select leadership development offering for emerging entrepreneurs from American, Chinese and other international family enterprises. GEL prepares you for success as a next-generation leader of your family business by connecting you with peers and fellow business creators in circumstances you would actually face as an executive seeking to foster international and inter-generational business opportunities and the exchange of values and knowledge.
Now entering its fourth year, GEL represents a collaborative effort between the SC Johnson College of Business and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. GEL, a comprehensive cross-cultural, experiential and immersive program for the next generation, is the foundation upon which participants can build the competitive edge they need in the years to come.
GEL participants will kick off the week on campus in Ithaca, spending time immersed in an Ivy League experience, and conclude the week on the Cornell Tech campus in New York City and exploring the dynamic global environment.
GEL is a unique international leadership program for high-achieving young business leaders from American, Chinese and other international family enterprises. Participants will be exposed to a select group of successful entrepreneurs and family business leaders who are eager to share their experience and wisdom with you to help you expand your business and network globally.
This program has been developed in partnership between Cornell Executive Business Education, Smith Family Business Initiative at Cornell, and Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business.
Each module will feature site visits to leading enterprises in the New York City and Ithaca. Participants will meet C-level and senior-level executives during those sessions as well as learn from leading Cornell and CKGSB faculty.
All participants completing both modules in good standing will receive a Professional Masters Certificate from Cornell University and CKGSB.
Includes: lodging, select meals, materials, company visits and US cultural activities
