The combination of a STEM-designation path, flexible curriculum, student leadership opportunities, course options in NYC and Ithaca, and a tight-knit community gives you all the benefits needed to fast-track your career trajectory.

What makes the Johnson One-Year MBA program different?

Its incredible speed to market. In 12 months, you’ll be on your way to career advancement with an Ivy League MBA—and you’ll enjoy the benefits of a residential MBA program in Ithaca.

Johnson’s STEM-designated, full-time One-Year MBA program in Ithaca offers a sequenced, yet flexible, curriculum, which includes the option to take courses at Cornell Tech in New York City. You’ll not only learn foundational business principles but also skills related to the industry that makes the most sense for your career advancement as you choose electives.

The program’s STEM designation recognizes a path in management science with an emphasis in data analytics, technology, and other similar disciplines integral to contemporary business leadership.

International students on an F-1 visa pursuing the program are eligible for a STEM OPT extension, enabling them to work in their field for a total of up to 36 months in the U.S. This extra 24 months makes them more hirable, affords them extended professional training, and gives them additional chances in the annual lottery for limited U.S. H-1B skilled worker visas.

A tight-knit (dual-campus) community

Students completing their MBA in one year with the accelerated program have the opportunity to work with peers in each of Johnson’s residential programs: Johnson Cornell Tech MBAs in the summer and the Two-Year MBA second years beginning in the fall. Weekend courses and intensives often reunite Tech and One-Year MBA students throughout the year in NYC, too. You’ll also have the chance to participate in, and lead, student events and organizations. And you will receive career guidance and leadership training specific to your program.

One-Year MBA Experience

The bottom line is that collaboration and collegiality are essential components of the Cornell MBA experience. Our students are dedicated and hardworking (it’s the Ivy League, after all), but they’re also supportive and willing to lend a hand to their peers. Diversity of culture, thought, and experience is incredibly important—Johnson was one of the first top business schools to have an Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Students set ground rules and expectations as a group soon after they get to campus.

It’s clear: Here we know collective success is just as valuable as your next big promotion.
