The Johnson School campus provides business students from all industries and career levels a place to collaborate and push each other and their respective industries forward. The campus connects Ithaca, NY, locals, NYC executives, business students from across the country, and even businesspeople from China to foster global connections.
The Sage Hall atrium glass ceiling was inspired by the main exhibition hall at the Oxford University Museum. The addition of the ceiling changed the inner courtyard into a covered atrium for use in all seasons. The soaring glass ceiling provides a light, airy space adding natural ambiance year-round. The natural light bounces off the walls providing a natural, calm setting for Johnson students to congregate.
The original Sage Hall dormitory included a Gothic-style central tower. The iconic tower was removed in 1950. As part of the renovations preparing the building for use by Johnson, the central tower was restored to its former glory. The renovated tower and original exterior walls act as reminders of the historic building even as modern touches were added to increase the functionality of the space.
The Atrium Cafe´ is a favorite on the Cornell campus for its many food and seating options. The Atrium Café is housed under the glass ceiling in Sage Hall and is ideal for business meetings over lunch. The menu includes a make-your-own salad bar, soups, sandwiches, dumplings, hot lunch options, and personal pizzas. The Atrium Café also serves Starbucks coffee.
The Breazzano Family Center increases the Johnson School’s teaching space and adds tiered and flat classroom options. Breazzano has two 90-seat and two 75-seat tiered classrooms. A flat-floor classroom in the building seats 120 students.
Breazzano provides students with multiple collaboration spaces. The first floor of the building has a four-story atrium and multiple soft seating options where groups can meet informally. For longer, more formal meetings, Johnson School MBA and MPS students can collaborate in one of the 19 breakout rooms in the building.
Breazzano is often open until 11:50 p.m., allowing students to use the facility well into the night. Additionally, students and staff that really thrive once the sun has gone down can get special approval to use the building until 12:30 a.m.
Two state-of-the-art high-definition studios in Breazzano allow for collaboration from the Ithaca Johnson campus to the Cornell Tech campus in NYC and executive MBA programs in North and South America and China. The facility also features simultaneous translation, eliminating potential language barriers.
The Johnson School’s presence in the Tata Innovation Center puts students elbow to elbow with tech companies, startups, and venture capitalists. The only building of its kind in the NYC area, the Tata Innovation Center provides Johnson Cornell Tech MBA students a direct pipeline to job opportunities through connections made while still pursuing their degrees. The building itself was constructed to evolve as the business, tech, and teaching worlds grow through the years.
Johnson Cornell Tech MBA students have the opportunity to live on Roosevelt Island, steps away from their classrooms and other campus events. The House at Cornell Tech is on-campus housing featuring fully furnished apartments with modern and urban touches. Additionally, each apartment boasts panoramic views of the campus, the East River, Manhattan, and Queens. Business students living at The House are also one short subway or tram ride away from Midtown Manhattan.
All Cornell Tech students participate in Studio. These collaborative courses combine the skills of Johnson School business students with engineers and computer scientists, law students, and information systems students on campus. These early projects familiarize students with the various skill sets needed to solve tech problems and bring products to market. By the end of Studio, these teams will have their own startup concept and maybe even bring it to market.
Johnson School students have the best of both worlds, with one campus building on the Cornell main campus and the other in Collegetown. This allows students, whether full-time in Ithaca, NY, or in town for a residential portion of their program, an opportunity to immerse themselves in the full Cornell University and Cornell SC Johnson College of Business experience on campus. Ithaca and Collegetown offer fantastic outdoorsy experiences and top-tier eateries year-round. Depending on the season, there is always natural beauty in Ithaca, NY.
Simeon’s American Bistro is a relaxed fine-dining restaurant located on Ithaca Commons. The restaurant offers brunch, lunch, and dinner menus as well as craft cocktails and wine. Located in a historic building on a busy corner of Ithaca, it offers great food and prime people-watching.
With two unique locations one in Collegetown and one just outside town between two New York State Parks, Ithaca Beer Co. offers a taproom and farm-to-table restaurant for guests to enjoy. Their Flower Power IPA can be found in 15 states across the East Coast.
Bar Argos is in the Argos Inn, a historic mansion in Ithaca. Bar Argos is open seven days a week and features an outdoor bar and patio. Guests that work up an appetite can enjoy small Mediterranean plates at The Rook Snackbar at Bar Argos.
Souvlaki House in Collegetown serves up Greek delicacies, as one would assume. What’s surprising about this restaurant is its fantastic Italian dishes and other American-style food. The varied menu is complemented by large portions and reasonable prices.
