Emerging Markets Institute Announces Inaugural Student Fellow

The Emerging Markets Institute at Cornell University’s Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management has announced its inaugural student fellow.  Gopal Bethmangalkar from the Accelerated MBA program was awarded the fellow designation at a Dean’s Award Luncheon at the Cornell Plantations on May 25, 2012.  His award was given “to recognize his academic achievements and service to the school in the field of emerging market growth and development.”  Bethmangalkar has been active in the establishment of the institute, having performed market research work in India, even before his arrival on the Cornell campus.

“We have been impressed with the high quality of Gopal’s work, as well as his commitment to the Institute”, stated Richard J. Coyle, executive director of the Emerging Markets Institute.  “We believe he will be a successful ambassador for our work.”

In addition to his MBA from Johnson, Gopal holds a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor of Technology in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology  (Madras).  Prior to his MBA studies, he developed the market in India for advanced planning solutions, including business process outsourcing and supply chain optimization systems.
