MasterCard CEO to Speak on “Cashless” Future

Ajay Banga comes to Johnson on March 4, as part of the Distinguished Global Speaker Series

The prospect of a “cashless future” will be the subject of a special event on March 4, 2013, when Ajay Banga, President and CEO of MasterCard, visits Johnson as part of the Distinguished Global Speaker Series. The event takes place at 5:15 pm in Alice Statler Auditorium, and is free and open to the public.

Mr. Banga will engage in a fireside-chat-style conversation on the question, “Do you believe in a world beyond cash?” Vrinda Kadiyali, the Nicholas H. Noyes Professor of Management and Professor of Marketing and Economics will moderate the discussion, following a special introduction by Dean Soumitra Dutta.

Prior to joining MasterCard in 2009, Banga was chief executive officer of Citigroup Asia Pacific. Banga was named to the Board of Directors of The Dow Chemical Company in 2013.  He is currently chairman of the U.S.-India Business Council. He also serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the Business Roundtable, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the International Advisory Board of the Moscow School of Management (Skolkovo), The Economic Club of New York, The Financial Services Roundtable and the board of the New York City Ballet. He also is a fellow of the Foreign Policy Association and was awarded the Foreign Policy Association Medal in 2012.

Banga received a B.A. in Economics from Delhi University where he graduated with honors and is an alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad.
