Emerging Markets Institute (EMI) announces summer grant winners

Johnson’s Emerging Markets Institute(EMI) has announced the winners of its first annual summer grant program.  The issuance of these grants is critical to the institute’s goals of increasing the visibility of research on emerging markets and providing it for its global stakeholders through the portal of the institute itself.

The grant review committee – that included the EMI faculty directors and members of the faculty steering committee of EMI – has selected the following two proposals from faculty and researchers at Johnson to receive funding:

(1) Jim Detert, assistant professor of management and organizations and Sean Martin, PhD, ’13, for “Business and behavioral ethics in developing markets: What do we really know about best practice?”

(2) Vishal Narayan, assistant professor of marketing and Vithala Rao, professor of management and marketing for“Competition between Organized and Traditional Retailers in Emerging Markets: A Household Level Analysis of Store Format Choices in India”
