Jon Moeller ’86, MBA ’88

President and Chief Executive Officer at Procter & Gamble

Jon Moeller earned a Bachelor of Science in biology in 1986 and a Johnson MBA in 1988. His wife, Lisa Sauer, also holds dual degrees from Cornell, including a Johnson MBA.

Mr. Moeller is the president and chief executive officer at Procter & Gamble, the venerable multinational consumer goods corporation headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio. He joined P&G right after earning his MBA at Johnson and went on to excel in a variety of roles in the US and China, ascending to top leadership in 2007. Having served as chief financial officer for 12 years, shouldering profit/loss responsibility for P&G’s Enterprise Markets and leading investor relations, his knowledge of P&G’s operations and mission are matched by his passion for the company’s culture and momentum. Every year since 2009, he has been honored by Institutional Investor magazine as a Best CFO. He has served as chairman and president of the board of the Cincinnati Art Museum.

Mr. Moeller shares his expertise as a visiting lecturer on mergers and acquisitions at Johnson.

1. What is it about Johnson, and your time here, that drives you to stay engaged?

The energy of both the faculty and student body, as well as the commitment not only to teach and to learn but to make a positive difference.

2. What’s your advice for current students, who will soon be business leaders taking on the world’s most important challenges?

Energize and enable the resources around you. Properly motivated and enabled, they are capable of achieving amazing things.

3. What do you see as the most useful of your unique talents within the context of your work life?

The ability to determine and then focus on what matters and makes a difference, accompanied by the ability to let the rest go.
