International Loans

International students in the Accelerated (AMBA) and regular 2-year MBA program have several options available if they wish to borrow to help meet their educational costs. Please note that we do not allow student loans be used on your declaration of finances form.

CitiAssist Universal Loan Program: the Johnson School has partnered with Citibank to allow our international students to borrow student loan funds up to the cost of tuition each year. This loan requires neither cosigner nor additional asset documentation. Borrowers will need to complete an online application with Citibank and sign a promissory note. Students in the AMBA program will need to apply separately for summer funding and may begin the online application May 1, 2008. Loan funds will not be disbursed to your bursar account until the proper documents have been completed with Citibank.

International students should investigate all sources of funding within their own countries, such as government scholarships and loans, private agencies, and bank loan programs.

Additional private loan programs
Citibank also offers a similar loan but allows you to borrow a higher amount with a credit worthy U.S. citizen cosigner.

Sallie Mae MBA Loans are available to international students if the loan is cosigned by a creditworthy U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident.

Permanent UK residents: check out The Association of MBAs' Loan Scheme.

Interest free loans for Latin America and Caribbean students: The Rowe Fund

The International Education Finance Corporation (IEFC) The IEFC provides two financial assistance programs for international study; the International Student Loan Program (ISLP) and the Canadian Higher Education Loan Program (CanHELP).

ISLP is available to international students who can obtain a credit worthy U.S. citizen or permanent resident willing to cosign and guarantee the loan. Cosigners must be living and working in the U.S. for at least the last two years and satisfy credit approval criteria.

CanHELP is available to Canadian citizens. If you are a permanent resident of Canada, you will need a Canadian citizen as a cosigner. Applicants must satisfy credit approval criteria.
