Immersion Learning
Customized Program
The Customized Program is intended for students who choose not to enroll in a standard immersion program because:
Their career interest or summer internship plans are not addressed by the standard immersion programs.
Prior educational or work experience renders otherwise attractive immersions redundant.
They require a mix of classes that is different than that offered by the standard immersion program.
Students who excel in the Customized Program have well-defined career interests. In the past, these have included:
- real estate—development, finance, management
- human resource management
- hospitality industry
- health care industry
- wealth management
- consulting
- general management/leadership rotation
- global business
- technology management
The Customized Program provides the ultimate in flexibility. Students select the coursework and skill-building experiences most valuable in advancing their career goals. Each student's experience is unique and is determined in cooperation with faculty advisor John McClain, the Emerson Electric Company Professor of Manufacturing Management and Professor of Operations Management.
The program's advantages include:
a limitless number of opportunities to explore
the freedom to focus on either breadth or depth, according to individual interests
a way to craft an individual story to sell to prospective employers
