Immersion Learning
Sustainable Global Enterprise
The Sustainable Global Enterprise immersion focuses on the competitive business opportunities stemming from social and environmental issues.
It is designed to prepare MBA candidates for internships and careers in general management, consulting, entrepreneurship, and international business by helping them to develop general management skills including leadership, international management, innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology management. The immersion provides deep theoretical and practical understanding of a set of complex issues and the ability to address them in innovative ways.
The SGE immersion provides students with breadth and depth of knowledge relating to the broad impact of social and environmental issues as well as the specific strategic opportunities these issues present to firms across a number of industries. Students spend much of their time gaining valuable first-hand experience in field projects that require them to address real problems currently being faced by companies who expect to receive practical, operational solutions. SGE immersion projects require competency in all management areas, including economics, finance, accounting, and operations. The projects address sustainable value management, low income market development, and sustainable technological innovation, including:
- Organizational Sustainability Audits
- Sustainable Technology Commercialization Strategies
- Base of the Pyramid (BOP) Market Feasibility Studies
- Sustainable Venture Plans
Lectures, case studies and project work build analytical and strategic capabilities. Campus visits from managers and leaders of various organizations strengthen students' networks and expose them to the opportunities in the field. Attention is given to developing a personal vision and goals, honing communication skills, and providing a foundation for long-term career development.
