Robert T. Symington

Biography

Rob Symington is a senior advisor at ITE Management, L.P., a global investment firm. At Avenue since 2005, he previously was a senior advisor and the senior portfolio manager for the Avenue Capital US funds. Symington also is a member of the faculty at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, having joined the faculty in 2014 as a visiting senior lecturer of finance.

Symington began his career at the Philadelphia National Bank. Following graduate school, he joined M.D. Sass (a U.S. investment firm) in 1992 as an analyst in its distressed securities investment group. At the time of his departure from Sass, Symington was chief investment officer for the distressed securities resurgence funds. During his career he has participated as an investor and an active distressed fund manager in a number of major restructurings including American Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways, Delta Airlines, General Motors, GMAC, CIT, Trump Casinos, and NextWave Wireless Inc.

Symington is a board member of CycloPure, Inc. (a research company developing nano-pollutant and contaminant absorption technology), a member of the Board of Trustees of Dickinson College, and a member of the Advisory Counsel for the Johnson School.

He has an MBA from the Johnson School and a BA in English literature from Dickinson College. He lives in Larchmont, NY, with his wife Jane and their two boys Will and Teddy.
