This program has far exceeded my expectations. I have grown personally and professionally in so many ways, and made friendships that will last a lifetime.

Why did you choose Cornell?

Johnson was my top choice for business school for several reasons. I wanted my MBA experience to be one that focused on personal development. I knew I could take my executive leadership skills to the next level with the strong leadership curriculum at Johnson, and with the opportunity to immerse myself in it completely through the Park Fellows Program in particular.

Also, as an aspiring human resources executive, having access to the ILR School—which is the crown jewel for HR studies, globally—was a huge draw.

Lastly, when I came for a campus visit, I felt right at home, and that was the icing on the cake. Now, as a graduating second-year MBA student, I know I made the right choice.

What have you learned about yourself from your experience at Johnson?

I’ve learned more about how to give and receive feedback. The core team experience at Johnson is designed to intentionally pair you with others who have different backgrounds and personalities. In working and bonding with my team, I became much more aware of individual and team learning and communication styles. Shared feedback made me a better team player.

What trek are you partaking in?

This past December, I participated in the Japan-Korea trek, led by Professor Mark Milstein. Why visit one country when you can visit two?! I had the opportunity to visit a wide range of companies from different industries in both countries, experiencing cultural and culinary adventures along the way. It was just as much about experiencing other cultures as it was about delving into the business environments there.

What is your favorite spot on campus?

There is an overlook spot at the top of Libe Slope that is really quiet and peaceful. You can see half of Ithaca from there, and it’s a great spot to have lunch or just think.

What is your favorite thing to do in Ithaca?

Treleavan Winery, just outside of Ithaca, hosts movies every Friday night in their barrel room. The walls in the room are lined with wood barrels from floor to ceiling. There are comfy couches and they give you blankets. It is cozy and you can do your wine tasting while watching a movie. It is really cool and a nice way to relax.
