Doug is chairman of the European Credit Finance Group within the Investment Banking Division. This group includes the financial sponsors, structured finance, real estate and leveraged finance areas for EMEA. He is a member of the Firmwide Capital Committee and the Asian Capital Committee and serves on the board of Goldman Sachs International Bank. Doug joined Goldman Sachs as a managing director in 1999 and has held various leadership roles in the United States and Europe in the finance area with a focus on capital markets and debt new issuance, both in the investment grade and non-investment grade areas. He was named partner in 2004. Prior to joining the firm, Doug was a managing director and senior portfolio manager at Merrill Lynch Asset Management, where he started their first non-investment grade loan fund in 1989 and grew it into $14 billion of assets under management across funds focused on senior debt, high yield and distressed securities. As one of the largest investors in the leveraged finance market at the time, Doug served on numerous steering committees and boards during his tenure. Earlier in his career, Doug was a member of the leveraged buyout group at Security Pacific Merchant Bank in New York. Doug earned a BA from Cornell University and an MBA from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell. He and his wife, Kerri, have four children and live in London.
