During the spring semester, two courses are offered in a three-weekend in-person series. Two weekends take place in New York City, and the third is in Ithaca, providing students from the Two-Year MBA and the Johnson Cornell Tech MBA programs an opportunity to collaborate and build connections across campuses.
Fintech Ecosystem
The goal of the Fintech Three-Weekend Course is to provide hands-on learning in the emerging financial technology sector. Financial institutions are keenly embracing the digital economy, and banks have renewed their focus on technology-driven products and market innovation.
The Fintech course exposes students to startup ideas and ventures, technical concepts, and real-world case studies of technology applications in multiple areas of the financial services industry. SMARTech (Strategy for Media, Art, Retail Tech)
This course is for future leaders who understand that technology decisions in media, art, and retail ripple far beyond balance sheets. We will examine how digital technologies are transforming media, art, and retail —industries that don’t just drive economic value, but fundamentally shape how we experience the world, express identity, and connect with one another.
Students will analyze and understand the strategic implications of emerging technologies in these sectors and the opportunities and challenges they create at the intersection of culture and commerce. The course combines rigorous case analysis to derive conceptual frameworks – drawing from the case studies written by the instructor – with hands-on fieldwork, projects and insights from industry speakers. This course is ideal for students interested in entrepreneurship, strategy, or leadership roles where business decisions carry cultural weight. Whether you aspire to launch a creative venture, lead innovation at an established brand, or advise these industries through consulting or investing, you’ll gain frameworks for navigating the complex intersection of technology, culture, and commerce.
