MPS in Management Curriculum

Required courses

The Cornell MPS curriculum is designed to provide foundational business knowledge and training in the rich academic environment of Johnson School at Cornell University.

Students must complete 24 credits of required classes and 6 credits of graduate electives during their graduate studies, adding to a total of 30 credits. Those who have completed undergraduate coursework equivalent to the required courses may substitute appropriate graduate management electives as approved by the program director. All required courses are 1.5 credit hour, half-semester experiences, except MGMT 6000 (Career Practicum), which is 1.5 credit hours across the entire Fall Semester.

Students will have the ability to select from a large number of graduate level management electives including:

  • Finance
  • Strategy
  • Accounting
  • Business Analytics/Artificial Intelligence
  • General Management and Business Law offered by the Johnson School, Dyson School and the Nolan School of Hotel Administration

These electives can be used to broaden a student’s skillset or to develop industry expertise in specific areas. For example, students may take  Management Cases (NBA 5330) to develop applied skills in business strategy and consulting through case studies, or they may take  Digital Technology Practicum (NBA 6480) to focus on technology topics such as product management.
