Academic Dates: A Note About Weekends

Please understand that weekends are not free. Weekends are frequently needed for group work, academic review sessions, and other activities. Additionally, some class sessions, midterms, and final exams will be held on weekends. This is particularly true during the accelerated summer core curriculum. We urge you to avoid outside commitments as much as possible.

Summer Term

The summer core curriculum is extremely accelerated. Class sessions and exam dates are mandatory; plan to be fully engaged and limit your outside commitments. Typically, you will take two classes at a time, with sessions all day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, but there are some Saturdays and Sundays where classes will need to meet.

Wednesdays are generally devoted to group work, career prep, and other activities, but occasionally there are exceptions and class will be held on Wednesdays. In addition to the occasional weekend class session or exam, you’ll use weekends to work with your core team, attend review sessions, and sometimes take exams.

During the second module, which is most of the month of June, you will still be taking two classes, however you will have a different arrangement of class days. For that specific module, you will have classes held every other day, including weekends.

Fall Semester

After completing your foundational summer business core, it will be time to start your academic year studies with the rest of the Cornell Tech community. The Cornell Tech Student Services website will be your guide for your time on Roosevelt Island.
