Biography

Grady Raines joined the Management and Organizations group at Cornell University's SC Johnson College of Business in 2021. His research interests include entrepreneurship, institutional theory, and inequality. His current research focuses on the impact of community and institutional factors on the growth of new ventures and how entrepreneurs in emerging markets can respond to environmental changes.
Before coming to Cornell, he earned a B.S. in economics from Brigham Young University and received the Honors Research Fellowship to support his research on social capital within multinational corporations. Outside of his academic career, Grady served in significant leadership roles in various ecclesiastical and humanitarian organizations in both the United States, Czech Republic, and Slovakia. Grady speaks Czech and Slovak fluently (ahoj), and is currently learning morse code. Grady also enjoys cycling, baseball, and spending time outdoors with family.
