Xuege (Cathy) Lu is a doctoral student in the Management & Organizations group of the Johnson College of Business at Cornell University. Her research explores dynamics in market categorization and boundary-crossing activities. Drawing primarily from institutional theories, she studies corporate engagement in social innovation and how firm’s prosocial action affects business and society. Prior to joining the PhD program at Johnson in 2016, Cathy worked as a consultant at the World Bank where she managed development projects that promote sustainable business practices. Cathy holds B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications from Fudan University and M.A. from Johns Hopkins University in Public Policy. Besides dabbling in organization research, she lives the dream as a professionally trained pianist from the age of six. She enjoys playing Chopin as much as crunching data.
