Xuege (Cathy) Lu is a doctoral student in the management & organizations group of the Johnson College of Business at Cornell University. Her research explores dynamics in market categorization and boundary-crossing activities. Drawing primarily from institutional theories, she studies corporate engagement in social innovation and how a firm's prosocial actions affect business and society. Prior to joining the PhD program at Johnson in 2016, Cathy worked as a consultant at the World Bank, where she managed development projects that promote sustainable business practices. Cathy holds a BA in journalism and mass communications from Fudan University and an MA from Johns Hopkins University in public policy. Besides dabbling in organization research, she lives the dream as a professionally trained pianist (from the age of six). She enjoys playing Chopin as much as crunching data.
