2019 Judges

Fahim Razzaque, CFA

Managing Director of Research, Research Analyst Fidelity Investments

Fahim Razzaque is a managing director of research and research analyst in the Equity division at Fidelity Investments. Fidelity Investments is a leading provider of investment management, retirement planning, portfolio guidance, brokerage, benefits outsourcing, and other financial products and services to institutions, financial intermediaries, and individuals.

In this role, Mr. Razzaque oversees the Small-Cap analyst team. He also covers Small-Cap Healthcare stocks.

Prior to assuming his current position in August 2008, Mr. Razzaque worked as an equity research intern at Adage Capital Management in 2007, as a senior engineer at Qualcomm from 2004 to 2006, and as an electrical engineer at HP from 2001 to 2004. He has been in the financial industry since 2007.

Mr. Razzaque earned his bachelor of science degree in computer engineering from the University of Michigan, his master of science degree in electrical and computer engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, and his master of business administration degree in finance from Cornell University. He is also a CFA® charterholder.

Brett Meyer, CFA

Chief Operating Officer, Artisan Partners

Brett J. Meyer, CFA, is the chief operating officer of the Artisan Partners Global Equity Team. In this role, he is responsible for a number of non-investment responsibilities to ensure the focus of the team’s portfolio managers and analysts is on managing the team’s investment strategies. His responsibilities include day-to-day coordination of the research processes, hiring investment talent, and the information flow among the members of the investment team and trading. In addition, he acts as the team’s liaison with Artisan Partners’ business management team on legal, compliance, accounting, finance, facilities and IT matters. Mr. Meyer joined Artisan Partners in February 2013 as a director in the Investment Operations group which supports the firm’s existing investment teams as well as identifies new investment talent. Prior to joining Artisan, Mr. Meyer served as an equity analyst on the investment team at Quantum Capital Management. Previously, Mr. Meyer spent 12 years at Callan Associates in a variety of capacities, including director of research for the Independent Adviser Group. Mr. Meyer holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration and sports management from Principia College.

Joe Hintz, CFA

Investment Analyst, American Century Investments

Joe Hintz, CFA, is an investment analyst for American Century Investments, a premier investment manager headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. He is based in the company’s Kansas City, Missouri office.

Joe provides fundamental research and analysis for the U.S. Small Cap Value and U.S. Small Cap Value Income strategies. He has been a member of the team since joining American Century Investments in 2015. Previously, Joe was a concert violinist and performed with the New World Symphony in Miami Beach, Florida, and the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra in Michigan, as well as several orchestra ensembles in San Diego, California.

Joe holds a bachelor’s degree in music from the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, a master’s degree in music from the University of Michigan and a master’s degree in business administration from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He is a CFA® charterholder and member of the CFA Institute.

Miles Lewis, CFA

Vice President and Portfolio Manager, American Century Investments

Miles Lewis, CFA, is a vice president and portfolio manager for American Century Investments, a premier investment manager headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. He is based in the company’s New York office.

Miles co-manages and provides fundamental research and analysis for the U.S. Small Cap Value and U.S. Small Cap Value Income strategies. He has been a member of the team since joining American Century Investments in 2010. Previously, Miles was assistant vice president at MBIA Insurance Company in New York, where he worked on structured finance transactions and municipal debt restructurings. Prior to that, he was an analyst at Chanin Capital Partners in New York, where he advised investors in bankrupt and distressed companies. He also worked as an associate in the investor relations department of Accenture. He has worked in the financial industry since 2003.

Miles holds a bachelor of business administration degree from The College of William and Mary and a master’s degree in business administration from the Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University. He is a CFA® charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute.

Andrew Steinerman

Managing Director, J.P. Morgan

Celebrating 20 years at J.P. Morgan, Andrew Steinerman is a Managing Director covering the U.S. Business and Information Services sectors. He has been top ranked by Institutional Investor every year since 1999 and designated #1 15 times in recent years. Andrew was inducted into Institutional Investor’s All-America Research Team Hall of Fame. He previously worked in Big 4 accounting and holds a CPA. Andrew received his MBA from Wharton and an undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan.

Thomas Watson, CFA

Vice President, T. Rowe Price Group, Inc.

Thomas Watson is a vice president of T. Rowe Price Group, Inc. He is a director of Equity Research, North America; co-chair of the Equity Research Advisory Committee; and a member of the Equity Steering Committee. In addition, Tom is co-portfolio manager of the US Structured Research Equity Strategy and is a member of the portfolio oversight team. He is also a member of the Investment Advisory Committees of the Global Technology, New American Growth, and Science & Technology Funds. Prior to joining T. Rowe Price in 2007, he was employed as a strategy analyst for Forrester Research. Tom earned a B.A. in economics and English literature from the University of Virginia and an M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Tom Sprague

Retired Portfolio Manager and Investor

Thomas Sprague has been involved with the stock market for over 30 years. As an analyst at Fidelity, he was responsible for stock picks in a wide variety of industries, from technology to leisure to steel. As a portfolio manager there he managed up to $12 billion in several retail mutual funds and institutional retirement portfolios, emphasizing a growth style of investing. Although no longer at Fidelity, he remains an active private investor, and assists several not-for-profit organizations with their investment and financial decisions.

Sprague’s work experience includes sixteen years at Fidelity Investments, where he served, successively, as equity analyst, equity portfolio manager, and group leader; and eight years as an industrial engineer at Eastman Kodak. He currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of Covenant Trust Company in Chicago IL, sits on the Finance, Investment, and Audit committees at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro MA, and is a Board Director at Geode Capital Management in Boston MA.

Sprague earned his BS in operations research and industrial engineering at Cornell University in 1979, and his MBA in finance at the Wharton School in 1989.
